In the global village we are living today, language plays a very crucial role. For our country to accomplish sustainable development in science, economy and even politics, we need to interact with other members of the global village, and this is not possible unless we have adequate mastery over the communication medium of today’s world, English language. Hence, learning English as the lingua franca of the academia is an inevitable necessity for effective communication with other members of the scientific community. However, we are in the era of indeterminacy regarding a widely-accepted paradigm in language pedagogy, and the wish to find consensus as to the best way or method to teach a language seems a far-fetched hope now. Therefore, the need to share our knowledge and insight about the language learning/teaching phenomenon feels more crucial today than ever before.
Accordingly, Sharif University of Technology, as one of the forerunners of the scientific community, plansto hold an ELT conference on Azar 26, 1394 (December 17, 2015). I am pleased to invite all interested researchers, teachers, and students to the event and it would be a great pleasure to meet you at the conference.
